Sanctuary Care
Not every horse can be rehomed, and that’s okay.
Some require lifelong sanctuary due to age, medical needs, or temperament.
Your support provides feed, veterinary care, farrier visits, and love for these permanent residents, ensuring they live out their days in comfort and dignity.
Success Stories
Seven

A Lucky Charm with a Big Heart
From the moment Seven arrived, he turned heads — and hearts. With the bold “7” marking on his face and a personality just as distinctive, he quickly became a barn favorite. Playful, friendly, and endlessly curious, Seven had a knack for making every volunteer and visitor smile.
Through patient training and a willingness to learn, his natural talent began to shine. He greeted each new challenge with the same eager spirit that made him so special — whether it was trying a new obstacle or perfecting his groundwork manners.
In early 2025, Seven’s story came full circle when he found his forever home with a multi-generational family of horse lovers — a grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter who all fell in love with his charm and gentle nature. Today, Seven shares his days with his new equine friend, Dolly, soaking up love and attention from every member of the family.
Seven’s new home is filled with laughter, learning, and love — proof that sometimes, the luckiest horses are the ones with a “7” written right on their face.
Maggie

From Uncertain Beginnings to Unconditional Love
Maggie’s journey began at a Texas feedlot auction, where she was rescued and brought to Mile High Rescue to begin her healing. With time and kindness, this shy pony learned to trust again and was adopted by a wonderful owner who loved her deeply.
After five happy years together, Maggie’s owner became too ill to care for her and made the difficult decision to return her to MHR in 2024. It didn’t take long for Maggie’s gentle nature and kind spirit to catch the attention of a couple looking for a companion for their horse—and she was the perfect fit.
Today, Maggie enjoys a peaceful life surrounded by love, with light rides from her family’s grandkids and plenty of pampering from her new “parents.” She’s proof that second chances can lead to the happiest of endings, and that every horse’s perfect home is worth waiting for.
